About

About Our Wellness Clinic

Mary J. Jordan is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for people and a great desire and curiosity to get to the root of every problem, especially when it comes to health. She graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 2007 with an associate degree in nursing. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing at Morningside University in 2020. Mary (MJ) worked at UnityPoint Health St. Luke's for 12 years. There she worked as an oncology/med-surg nurse for 7 years and the ICU for 5 years. She began working as a family nurse practitioner at a concierge office and became a certified Biote provider in 2020.

Choosing to become a nurse practitioner was initially a decision based on the desire to care for people while maintaining her work/life balance, as she knew this was pertinent to preserving her and her family's health. However, during her NP training, she realized that the traditional approach to medicine primarily focused on treating disease with medication rather than finding the root of the problem.

It was through her years of experience as a nurse caring for thousands of patients that all had the same aliments as they aged that she realized the importance of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). She found this was the first steppingstone on the journey to wellness and healthy aging. A lifestyle incorporating diet and exercise once hormones have been optimized could reverse the many ailments and health issues associated with aging. She did not want to settle into the system of "that's just how it has always been done."

She embarked on a journey to find a practical medical approach to reversing chronic disease and doing something more than "just prescribing pills." She wanted to talk with patients about their lives, obstacles, stress, sleep, and lifestyle habits, to truly understand their problems and discover what would work best for each individual.

MJ and her husband Alex as a combined family have six children and one granddaughter. They greatly enjoy traveling, spending time with family, exercising, and being in and on the water (pool, lake, or ocean)!

Here for You

Our mission at Encompass Wellness is to partner with patients on their healthcare journey to get to the root of their problems and reverse disease rather than treat the symptoms. The journey to better health involves taking a functional and integrative approach to evaluating the many factors that affect a person's health. Our ultimate goal is to use a combination of Hormone Replacement Therapy and functional/traditional medicine in partnership with patients to optimize their wellness and quality of life.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

What Is Female BHRT?

Female BHRT is an acronymic phrase that stands for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Hormone therapy for women has been a common practice to cope with aging for decades. Female hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may help women who are suffering from unbalanced hormones. Bioidentical hormones delivered through BHRT pellets closely replicate the molecular structure of human hormones.

When May Female BHRT Be Most Beneficial?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women may help any woman whose hormones are out of balance. However, the most common time women seek bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is when they’re experiencing menopause. Women typically experience three stages of menopause—perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause. There are also rare instances regarding women who have never had balanced hormones, often causing excessively uncomfortable menstrual cycles and extreme mood swings. The Biote Method of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women may help address the cause of these issues.

What Is Female Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Biote’s Method of hormone therapy provides a consistent release of hormones. When hormones are out of balance, hormone replacement therapy for women may help relieve a wide array of symptoms, both physical and emotional. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women aims to relieve the source of the problem, not just the symptoms themselves.

What Are Female BHRT Pellets?

Female BHRT pellets are comprised of custom-compounded hormones. These pellets are inserted subcutaneously during a quick in-office visit. Usually, within four to six weeks after the pellet insertion, the bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for a woman’s endocrine system begins to take effect. Many patients may begin to experience the benefits of the Biote Method after the second insertion.

We accept HSA and FSA to cover the cost of HRT.

What Is Male BHRT?

For decades, hormone therapy for men has been a common practice to address the symptoms of aging. Male bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may help men feel like themselves again. It may also help men who have always suffered from unbalanced hormones feel better for the first time. Male hormone replacement may also lower the severity of ailments not directly associated with reproductive symptoms. Biote has helped many patients with our unique approach to hormone therapy for men using pellet hormone therapy.

What Are Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are identical to those present in the human body, and closely resemble the molecular structure of human hormones.

What Are Male BHRT Pellets?

Pellets used for male BHRT are high-quality and custom-compounded with bioidentical testosterone. In an in-office appointment, these pellets are inserted subcutaneously in a patient’s upper buttocks. Within up to two to four weeks after a pellet insertion, the hormone therapy for men may begin to alleviate some unwanted symptoms. However, everyone’s body is different and some patients report feeling the full benefits after the second insertion.

What Is Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men?

Hormone therapy for men can take the form of patches, creams, pills, injections, or pellets, all containing testosterone. The Biote Method of bioidentical hormone replacement for men uses pellets containing bioidentical testosterone and may help with many different symptoms commonly associated with hormonal imbalance.

We accept HSA and FSA to cover the cost of HRT.
